What to bring to your GP review
Come prepared.

Appointments are short. A clear one-page summary of your results, routine and questions helps you get more out of them.

Appointments go fast

A standard GP appointment is short, and it's easy to walk out having forgotten half your questions. Arriving organised makes a real difference, for you and for your doctor.

A simple checklist

  • Recent results: your latest blood tests, and earlier ones if you have them, so changes are easy to spot.
  • Your current routine: everything you take regularly, including supplements and over-the-counter products, with the schedule.
  • What's changed: anything you started, stopped or changed since your last visit, and roughly when.
  • Sleep and recovery notes: if you track these, a short summary rather than raw screenshots.
  • Your questions: written down, most important first.

Keep it to one page

Your doctor doesn't need every data point. A clean summary, with trends instead of raw numbers, is quicker to read and more likely to help the conversation. Bring the detail in case they ask for it.

Before and after the appointment

The day before: check your summary is up to date, add any new results, and put your top three questions at the top. If you've had tests done somewhere else, bring those results too.

During the appointment: start with your most important question rather than leaving it until the end, and ask how results compare with your previous ones.

After you leave: note what was discussed, any follow-up tests and when they're due, and any changes your doctor suggested. Adding these to your records straight away means your next summary is ready before you need it.
